I'm Rachel DeMille, co-author of the TJEd materials with my husband Oliver DeMille. I'm thrilled about the opportunities this Community affords us. Whether you are Just Getting Started and have tons of questions about how to apply the principles of Leadership Education, or are a seasoned veteran who wants to refine the skills of mentoring, you will find valuable resources and relationships here.

Here are a couple of helpful links:
New to TJEd
Orientation for this site

I highly recommend you have a look at our sister site, TJEdOnline. There are many free resources there, like Oliver's Update and Rachel's "Mine", which are listings of our new essays, The Phases Resource Library and Kidschool helps, etc. Also, free pdf downloads from the TJEd books are available there. And for those who want them, there are premium services available for a low monthly subscription.

I am so happy to be on the Leadership Education path with you. We all benefit from each other's growth and insight. Your contribution here and in your community truly do make a difference.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if I can help in any way. I look forward to getting to know you, and thank you in advance for enriching this experience for all of us here.

Warmly,
Rachel DeMille

Is physical exercise a part of leadership education?

Running: we have had a love-hate relationship. I had been exercising for a few years early in the mornings, and I had been getting to the point of burning out. It was soon becoming a drudgery to get up; I was crabby at night because I needed to get up early and have this amazing exercise experience, no matter what. Taking A Step Back Into Love of Learning to Inspire, Not Require

I can promise you TJEd works! I have a 13 year old who is transiting into Scholar Phase. The more I “inspire, not require”, the more she fly’s...

I've homeschooled her since kindergarten. Our evolution through the homeschooling journey started with a Waldorf inspired home (which we still have) an educational philosophy which is very similar to TJEd Core and Love of Learning Phases. I got scared and moved on to a curriculum in a box- Calvert , and also hired a tutor twice a week for the three R‘… Continue

The education of a mother

The Education of a Mother

Some of that education comes from reading great books, coming face to face with greatness. Some of that education comes from experience. Sometimes after we have learned a principle in a book we are given the opportunity to learn it by experience, thus solidifying our intellectual kn… Continue

Core Phase Mom tries to 6 month Purge

You decide to start15 minute sessions of decluttering every day program. At supper with all the kids gathered around the table you decide to start talking about your new path to organization, and how we are now going to be organized and be able to find things. oooh, aaah. You expect great participation. But get groans from all around, and with good reason. In the past when Core Phase Mom says” its time to clean”, it usually means Monster Mom moves in and Nice Mom goes on vacation. You realize th… Continue
